In flipping through local TV channels, you may not have seen broadcasts of the state house of representatives, but Nashville Public Television quietly began offering the sessions live back in February on its fledgling digital signal.
NPT-2 is broadcasting to digital cable customers. NPT CEO Beth Curley says the channel is hoping to expand the menu of offerings going forward.
“We are fairly confident that there’s an appetite for the intellectual, the civic, and the cultural kinds of content that we’re, we will be able to provide on this service. We certainly think there’s an appetite for the, seeing the house of representatives live and in action, and we’re just excited about the possibilities this technologies give us.”
The federal government has mandated that as of January 2009, all televisions will have to be receiving digital signals so Curley says launching the signal now will make the transition easier.
