Hutton Hotel is not far from the Nashville street named Broadway. And this weekend, a taste of the real Broadway comes to the hotel’s music venue when “The Addams Family Musical” is performed in concert at Analog.
The concert is the perfect event for Halloween weekend and a good fit for Analog, an intimate music space that provides an up-close, personal experience in a homey setting.
Meredith DiMenna is director of marketing at Hutton.
“We want to be reflective of the music of the city and what’s happening in the city. And as I started programming, we realized that musical theatre was growing and it has a very sort of dedicated audience,” says DiMenna.
“And we saw more Broadway performers moving into town and reaching out to us and wanting to do different types of performances. So it felt really natural to dig into it.”
Rachel Potter is an alumna of Broadway musicals and made her debut in “The Addams Family” as Wednesday. She reprises the role and hosts the concert series at Analog.
One of those Broadway transplants is Rachel Potter, who starred in several Broadway musicals before moving to Nashville a few years ago. She came up with the idea of the Off Broadway Concert Series at Hutton. Presenting “The Addams Family” in concert was a logical decision for Potter, aside from it being Halloween. Her Broadway debut was in the role of Wednesday in the musical.
“There is nothing better to choose than ‘Addams Family.’ This is such a popular show,” says Potter. “So, I thought this would be a really fun opportunity to get a bunch of my old friends together and I called the composer and lyricist, Andrew Lippa, who I’m buddies with to discuss the idea, and he was like ‘I love it. Let’s do it.'”
Potter recruited Lippa to participate, as well as several notable Broadway alums to perform the concert, which will feature all the songs and some scenes from the musical.

Since the concert is performed on Halloween weekend, music is only part of the experience planned at Hutton Hotel, according to DiMenna.
“All of us here on my team went down a major Addams Family wormhole to prepare for this,” she says. “It is extremely interactive starting from the minute you walk in and enter the hotel through our West End entrance, which is basically a tunnel that goes from ground level up to the second floor, where Analog is located, and it will be an entry into an Addams Family-inspired world.”
The experience includes spooky-inspired bar drinks and food, roving characters and a photo booth featuring a replica of the Addams Family mansion. And VIP ticket-holders get an even more immersive experience.
DiMenna says the concert series is just the kind of event Hutton wants to continue and scale up for Analog.
“Musical theatre is a growing genre here in town, and we look at this to become sort of foundational for Analog’s programming,” says DiMenna.
“We have incredible, iconic venues and this incredible music scene in Nashville. And, we’re not trying to duplicate what anyone else has done, nor do we feel that we could. We felt like this was a lane that was developing and was kind of open to continue to grow.”
“Off Broadway: The Addams Family In Concert” is Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st (Halloween) at Analog in Hutton Hotel. Information is at www.analognashville.com.
