A proposed residential development in Green Hills has been delayed after neighbors told Metro Council members last night that they want more input on the project.
An urban design overlay is being proposed to allow for up to 162 new housing units on Castleman Drive just off Hillsboro Pike.
The neighbors at Tuesday night’s council meeting say they’re concerned about what the project would do to traffic. Green Hills resident Fields Stringfellow:
“We’ve seen development in the neighborhood over the last 8 to 10 years and we’re going to continue to see development, however…as was stated in the meeting, the developments that have previously done all had access to Hillsboro Road, they didn’t spill over back into the neighborhood.”
The proposed development is set back a block into a residential area.
Green Hills Councilwoman Lynn Williams says she hopes she can revive the development soon.
“Within the next week I’ll be able to determine from the developer whether or not he can address the density concerns and whether or not he can address the infrastructure concerns.”
In other council business, the bill that rezones Gallatin Pike in East Nashville passed last night on its second reading. The bill addresses signs and landscaping as well as limits the types of new businesses that can open.
