The Tennessee Democrat’s annual fundraiser, held over the weekend in Nashville, allowed both major democratic candidates for U-S Senate to meet and greet with party members.
Bob Tuke is former party chair and says he’s campaigning on his war record as a veteran to restore America’s international reputation.
“We’ve lost our standing in the world. It is time we regain it. We can only regain it if we have the kind of leadership in Washington DC that Americans expect. We clearly have not had it.”
Tuke’s running against Mike Padgett for the democratic nomination. Padget, a former Knox County clerk, is focusing on creating jobs.
“I want to see more jobs here in these United States not go across to other countries. We owe trillions of dollars in debt to China, Japan, and various places that are working. Free and fair trade is not working today.”
The eventual nominee will be competing against Republican Lamar Alexander, who’s running for reelection. The Tennessee Republican Party will be holding its annual fundraiser in July.
