Fisk Art Case Will be Studied

Lawyers around the country have already begun studying the impact of Fisk University’s dispute with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum over an art collection donated to the school in 1949. The American Bar Association held a conference on donor agreements last month and highlighted the Fisk case among a handful of others.

Capitol Hill Conversations – Amendment Would Let Voters Choose Constitutional Officers

Clarksville State Senator Rosalind Kurita has pushed a constitutional amendment that would allow voters to choose the Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, the Comptroller, and the Treasurer. All four officers are now elected by the General Assembly. WPLN’s State Capitol Correspondent Joe White explains this year, Kurita has settled on getting just two officers added to the ballot – and so far, her strategy is working.

Senator Alexander Talks About His New Leadership Role

In December, Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander won a new position in the Senate’s Republican leadership, and since then, his life has gotten a little more complicated. Alexander is relishing the new job, though, and has been working to set Republican priorities on issues, most recently related to the war in Iraq and the credit crisis. WPLN’s Christine Buttorff was in Washington D.C. last week and talked with the Senator about his new role and the recent debates over Iraq, a stimulus package and the housing crisis.
