Bassoonist Gil Perel

In 2003, conductor Kenneth Schermerhorn placed a phone call to bassoonist Gil Perel asking him to audition for the Nashville Symphony. The Maryland native, who’d been playing for the Boston Pops, jumped at the chance. A bassoonist since grade school, Perel has toured all over the U-S and Europe. As part of WPLN’s on-going series ‘Playing in the Band’, Gil Perel talks with WPLN’s Andy Scheinman. about the unique sound of this woodwind.
