With the US Senate returning to work this week, Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander says he’s still on the fence about whether he’ll vote to confirm Judge Sonia Sotomayor as the next Supreme Court Justice.
Alexander says he’s met with Sotomayor and says he enjoyed the meeting.
“She certainly has intellectual horsepower that will make her a fine Supreme Court Justice. I’m reading her opinions and some of her articles and I’m waiting to see what she says at her hearings before I make a decision about how I’ll vote.”
Many Senate Republicans have been opposed to Sotomayor’s confirmation. But Alexander, as the Senate Republican’s number three man says his party shouldn’t block her nomination. He says she deserves an up-or-down vote.
