A Pennsylvania-based company is closing its Nashville distribution center, eliminating all 78 jobs within the next month.
Ameri-source-Bergen is a pharmaceutical distributor that takes drugs from manufacturers and delivers them to pharmacies.
Company spokesman Mike Kilpatric says the company is consolidating its distribution facilities.
“When AmerisourceBergen was created in 2001 by the merger of Bergen Brunswig and AneriSource Health, we had 51 distributions centers around the country it takes approximately anywhere between twenty and thirty in order to cover the country.”
Kilpatric says all 78 employees will be offered severance, but none will be transferred to other centers within the company.
Amerisource-Bergen’s revenues last year amounted to about 50-billion dollars.
