UT Receives Lackluster Response to Candidate Survey

“Vote Orange” is a new election slogan coming from the University of Tennessee. But according to a recent candidate survey, it’s hard to tell whose interests align with UT’s top officials. Only a third of General Assembly candidates bothered to answer the survey.

TN Supreme Court Finds Metro Sheriff Can Enforce Law

Songwriters Hall of Fame to Call Convention Center Home

After more than 40 years in existence, the Songwriters Hall of Fame has a home, and it’s a big one. On Thursday, some of the 184 Hall of Fame members like Pat Alger gathered at a corner entrance of Nashville’s new convention center, slated to be complete next year.

Parolee Problems Result in Resignation

Lax oversight of felons out on parole has led to a high-profile resignation in the Tennessee Department of Correction. A recent audit found falsified paperwork showing officers were supervising parolees who had already died.

Corker Fears Feds May ‘Destroy’ TVA

More Cases, New Name in Meningitis Outbreak

Tennessee health officials have found two new cases of fungal meningitis, bringing the total in the Nashville area to 13. The state has also begun using the word “outbreak” to describe the situation.

Updated: Tennessee Wal-Mart Women File Federal Class Action Suit

Women who work for Tennessee’s largest private employer filed a court case Tuesday claiming pay discrimination. The federal lawsuit against Wal-Mart follows an unsuccessful case that involved women coast-to-coast.
