It’s the natural number following 15 and preceding 17; the number of ounces in a pound; the atomic number of sulphur; number of pawns in a chess set; the number of personality types in the Myers-Briggs classification system; the minimum age to get a driver’s license in many states, the name of an unincorporated community in Perry County, Kentucky; the number of games in an NFL season; and the inspiration for some tolerably fine bluegrass tunes. Thanks to Hayseed Dixie, Dirk Powell, Jim & Jesse and Jimmy Martin, we’ll be putting the bluegrass to the number sixteen.
