Twelve years ago, Bob Corker ran for the U-S Senate against Bill Frist. The heart-surgeon won easily in that primary election. Now Frist is choosing not to run for re-election to the Senate, opening the door again for a Corker campaign. The former Chattanooga mayor became a declared candidate early on, building a massive campaign chest. But in a primary that’s become a race to be “the most conservative candidate”, opponents Van Hilleary and Ed Bryant have been decrying Corker as too liberal for the job.
