Ten months before voters choose Nashville’s next mayor, Metro insiders held a straw poll looking ahead at the race, and it was nearly a dead heat. Attorney Charles Robert Bone bested Council Member Megan Barry by one vote.
Around a hundred people turned out to the event, which was sponsored by the Nashville Post.
Bone turned out his supporters. Parked outside the event: a big black SUV with an image of him holding a map of Davidson County.
Inside, President of the Tennessee Young Democrats Matia Powell, said no matter who wins, one issue stands out to her.
“Transportation is number one,” Powell said. “We are a growing city, and it is very vital that we get transportation right.”
In a separate survey, Nashville Scene’s Reader’s Poll, in which thousands submitted votes, Megan Barry was the top choice.
There are three other announced candidates in the mayor’s race, including David Fox, Linda Rebrovick and Jeremy Kane
