The head of the Country Music Association has resigned without notice. Steve Moore says he plans to “pursue other corporate and philanthropic opportunities.” He says in a statement, “this seemed like an appropriate time to step aside,” given record attendance at the CMA festival and new long-term TV contracts for the CMA Awards.
Moore served on the CMA board of directors prior to being named to lead the trade organization nearly four years ago. He originally came to Nashville in 1985 to open Starwood Amphitheatre.
Moore’s replacement has not been announced.
