Nashville residents have three more chances to share their thoughts on redistricting.
The planning department has been seeking feedback on a first draft of new council and school board districts.
Every decade, government employees are tasked with re-balancing population sizes in districts while trying not to split groups with similarities.
Compared to 2011, the city has scheduled more community engagement opportunities. They’ve included events at the Madison and Southeast libraries where substantial growth has occurred. But staffing constraints and a tight timeline to submit proposals for approval limited their reach.
Here’s three ways you can give input on the first drafts before it’s too late:
- Residents can provide feedback online and see the proposed map at redistrict.nashville.gov.
- Attend an in-person event on Wednesday at the Bordeaux library from 2 to 4 p.m. for appointments and 4:30 till 7 p.m. for walk-ins.
- Swing by the planning department’s offices on Thursday at the Metro Office Building 800 Second Avenue South from 3 to 6 p.m.
