Several Republican state lawmakers including the House Speaker are being subpoenaed in connection with an ongoing federal investigation. The investigation involves a kickback scheme.

Now, House Speaker Cameron Sexton and several other current members have been subpoenaed in relation to the case. The FBI wants more information regarding a deal with a consulting company that was funneling money to House members.

Sexton released a statement saying the subpoena was not unexpected and he’s been fully cooperating with investigators. Sexton became House leader in 2019 after former Speaker Glen Casada, R-Franklin, resigned over a different scandal.
