LiveNation and AJ Capitol have opened a new large-capacity venue in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. It’s called The Truth.
The name takes inspiration from Nashville songwriter Harlan Howard, who once said that the essence of a good song is “three chords and the truth.”
The venue seats 4,500 attendees, which happens to match The Pinnacle, the new venue that direct competitor AEG opened last year.
It’s a big room that’s made to feel intimate by building up rather than out — three stories up and only 150 feet from the front of the stage to the last seat in the house.
Each floor offers something different in terms of food, experience and price.

Food
The Truth will be offering food on every floor during shows. Some highlights:
The Meat and Three Sandwich: Pulled pork, mac-n-cheese and coleslaw in between Texas toast. This is their anchor dish and will be served on the ground floor. Ground floor is general admission. It’s a bold choice and ode to a Southern staple. Could be sloppy if people are bringing it into a mosh pit.
Taiyaki: Traditionally, taiyaki is a Japanese dessert that is filled with red bean paste and formed into a cute koi fish. The Truth’s version keeps the cute koi shape but americanizes the dish, using with strawberry jam and Nutella filling in a buttery croissant exterior. This will be served in the Vinyl Room, the third-floor rooftop bar that is inspired by Japanese listening rooms.
Other food highlights: Large pretzel on first floor. Sushi tots in the Vinyl Room. Burger with locally sourced beef and bacon on the second floor.
Drinks
A point of pride for the venue is the second floor VIP bar, Harlan’s. It will have spirits from 44 local distilleries and claims to have 138 different Tennessee whiskeys, one of the largest such collections in the U.S.
Setlist posters
The Truth is going to work with each artist to offer a hand-printed letterpress poster of the night’s setlist after every show. (Might be difficult with someone Jack White, who often makes the setlist up as he goes along.) But the idea is that the artist submits their setlist before the show, then the team sets the type and uses their old press to offer a unique poster after every show.
Parking
Parking will be difficult. The Truth has a capacity of over 4,000 people. There are only 3,000 parking spots in all of Wedgewood-Houston.
Local police officers will be in the streets directing traffic.
