Metro Nashville Police fatally shot a man in Hermitage on Thursday.
According to the department, a SWAT officer fired on a 54-year-old man who was wanted for assault and kidnapping charges. The department says the man was armed, although they don’t specify what he was armed with.
The Community Oversight Board confirmed the shooting and was on the scene Thursday afternoon to begin its investigation.

This is the first fatal shooting of the year by Nashville police .
In 2022, three people were fatally shot by Nashville police — two in November and one in January.
