Conspiracy theories are bubbling up about the death of Gwen Shamblin, who ran the Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood and was the subject of a recent HBO series.
The hosts of iHeartRadio’s Bobby Bones Show broadcast their theories about Shamblin’s death this week. They said she faked her death when her and her husband’s private plane crashed into Percy Priest Lake in May.
“Why are their bodies – why haven’t they been found?” host Amy Brown asked. She went on to say that Shamblin’s body was never recovered.
But none of that is true.

Rutherford County’s medical examiner’s office confirms that the remains of all seven passengers were accounted for after the crash and that Shamblin was, in fact, identified through forensic testing.
All of the passengers were leaders of Shamblin’s controversial diet-focused church.
The show also falsely stated that there were recordings from inside the plane. But the National Transportation Safety Board says the small jet was not equipped with a cockpit recorder, and the only audio records available are a few brief interactions between the pilot and air traffic control before the crash.
