Metro’s Transportation Licensing Commission has refused to approve additional entertainment vehicles. The decision comes after a push from Safe Fun Nashville, a group formed recently with the goal of enforcing safety measures for party vehicles.
Tee Jordan, the group’s co-organizer, says Thursday’s decision wasn’t just a win for them.
“It was a victory for Nashville as a whole to make sure that these party wagons, they don’t run down the reputation. I know Nashville is the ‘it city’ but we don’t want to allow these party wagons to make it a crap city.”
Jordan says the next step they want to take is for there to be a discussion of what regulations make the most sense for party vehicles. She says the hope is to make sure people remain safe while enjoying themselves.
In July, a man was run over after falling from a party bus on Broadway.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the scope of the Metro Transportation Licensing Commission’s denials. Permits for several vehicles were rejected, but they did not include party buses.
