This Monday, Oct. 5, marks Tennessee’s deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election on Nov. 3.
That’s when the state will decide its next governor — and vote on constitutional amendments involving criminal justice and property taxes.
It’s also the first general election since state lawmakers reworked Tennessee’s congressional maps to be more favorable to Republicans. Several of the state’s U.S. House races are for open seats.

U.S. citizens who live in Tennessee and are over 18 can register to vote through the Secretary of State’s website.
Early voting starts Wednesday, Oct. 14 and continues through Thursday, Oct. 29. Election Day is the first Tuesday in November.
