With three and a half days of campaigning left, the three republican US Senate candidates continue to slam records and spar over campaign advertising.
U.S. Republican Senate hopeful Van Hilleary, says rival Bob Corker should stop running ads Hilleary calls “over the top” and “devoid of honor and integrity.”
“Implying and suggesting and trying to make people think he lowered property tax as mayor of Chattanooga when in fact he has raised them by 24 percent. He has consciously tried to misrepresent his own record on abortion, making people believe that he has always been pro-life when in fact he has always been pro-choice until very recently for this race.”
Speaking to reporters today, Hilleary says not everyone in Chattanooga was pleased with Corker’s performance as mayor, so Hilleary said he’s going to campaign for the “anti-Bob Corker” vote in Chattanooga.
Meanwhile, the Corker campaigned in Franklin today, and said his opponents Van Hilleary and Ed Bryant have done nothing but run negative campaigns.
“It’s really interesting how this race can be turned around in such a way that they consider themselves to be the victims. I mean we have been the ones that have been setting the pace in this campaign, have been talking about what I’m going to do in the United States Senate and almost all of their focus has been on me.”
Corker also said that he’s the frontrunner in the race which is why he’s been the target. Corker began running two more ads today, both criticizing his opponents’ records while in congress.
