Tennessee Senator Bill Frist says the three biggest issues facing Americans are terrorism, economic competitiveness and the rising cost of health care.
Frist stopped by the weekly meeting of the Green Hills Rotary Club this morning.
The U-S Senate Majority leader says he’ll be drafting legislation in the coming weeks, to create an insurance pool for the uninsured and uninsurable.
“We have to think out of the box. We have to think of innovative ways to lower the cost of health care and one way to do that is do exactly what we did in the mortgage industry where we pool the resources of people broadly and then through the marketplace and the dynamics of the market place offer insurance plans at a lower cost. I call that not Fannie Mae, which is the mortgage industry, but Healthy Mae.”
Frist also says John Roberts will be a sitting Supreme Court justice by the time the Supreme Court reconvenes in October.
Frist is on a two-week tour of the state while Congress is in recess. He also traveled to Ashland City and Fort Campbell today.
