After confusion during early voting — which prompted a lawsuit — some Nashville voters did take advantage of special rules that were created in the aftermath.
More than 430 people were potentially misassigned to the wrong district and were given the chance to file a corrected ballot on Election Day.
The Election Commission says 117 voters — or about a quarter — went ahead and took that step. Their ballots are “provisional,” meaning they won’t necessarily be factored into the outcome. Their selections will be counted only if the election is contested.
The early voting confusion came to light after voters and journalists began asking questions about congressional district boundaries. A lawsuit filed on Friday prompted city and state officials to put special measures in place and to commit to a post-election investigation.
