The Tennessee Department of Labor has already met with some of the 196 Toshiba employees who will be losing their jobs next month.
Department Spokeswoman Milissa Reierson says those employees will be eligible for unemployment benefits and help finding another job.
“They’ve also qualified for trade adjustment assistance and that program is a federally funded program that provides assistance for workers affected by job loss or their hours and wages are cut due to increased imports or shifts in production to a foreign country and these folks at Toshiba have already qualifies for that.”
The extra resources will allow individuals to retrain for a different occupation, relocation and job search allowances and healthcare tax credits.
The electronics company had previously announced it will stop making a digital television at the company’s Lebanon manufacturing facility in September.
The nearly two hundred employees will be laid off in two rounds, one in August and the other in late September.
