There’s a major decision looming for Nashville voters this November: the city’s $3.1 billion transit referendum.
The mayor has proposed a half-cent sales tax increase to fund this major transit overhaul, which proposes a vast range of upgrades — bus rapid transit corridors (and some dedicated bus-only lanes), 86 miles of new sidewalks, a dozen new transit centers, updated traffic signals, and more.
There’s a lot packed into the 94-page plan, and we’ve covered elements of it so far: explaining how it could unlock a billion dollars worth of federal funding, diving into the regressive nature of a sales tax, looking back at the lessons learned from the last referendum attempt and considering the plan’s regional impact.
Update: After calling for your transit questions on Sept. 10, WPLN has since closed this submission form and is now working on the answers. Check back at WPLN.org/transit for answers before early voting begins Oct. 16.
