Coronavirus Outbreak At Davidson County Jail Prompts Mass Testing

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is monitoring a coronavirus cluster at a minimum-security jail on Harding Place. Nashville’s Community Oversight Board wants to investigate the death of a man who was arrested in February. The officers who arrested Gabriel Hines have been accused of using physical force. The Metro Nashville Police Department says an internal investigation cleared them of wrongdoing. But the city’s new police oversight group still has questions.

Nashville’s Jail Population Shrinking, But Coronavirus Still Spreading

Nashville’s jail population is continuing to shrink as the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office works to curb the spread of the virus behind bars. As of Friday, the city’s jails house 949 inmates. That’s a decrease of nearly a quarter since the first case of the coronavirus was reported in Tennessee early in March.

Protesters Urge Officials To Release More Nashville Jail Inmates

Nashville’s Juvenile Detention Center Says It’s Improving Safety After Four Teens Escape

Nashville Activists Renew Push To End Money Bail

Many people arrested in Davidson County are not in the room when a judge sets their bail. That’s according a report released last week by a group of Nashville activists who want the city to change the way it jails people before trial.
