The Omicron variant arrives in Nashville, but Delta is still the local COVID concern

A Nashville resident who recently returned from South Africa has been confirmed as the city’s first confirmed patient with the COVID Omicron variant. The Metro Public Health Department says the patient was vaccinated and boosted, and experienced mild symptoms.

Tennessee’s neighboring states report first Omicron cases

COVID Hospitalizations Have Doubled This Month In Tennessee, And 97% Of New Cases Are Unvaccinated

COVID hospitalizations have doubled in Tennessee since the Fourth of July β€” from 195 to 408. It’s a manageable number β€” given hospitals cared for more than 3,300 COVID patients at one point in January β€” but a worrying trend in a state with less than 40% of residents fully vaccinated.
