The Nature Conservancy recently struck a deal with the state of Tennessee to permanently protect an area in the central Appalachian Mountains that contains hardwood forests housing migratory songbirds, a small population of reintroduced elk and about 180 miles of streams.
TWRA Turns Focus From Protecting Game To Protecting Habitat
Tennessee’s agency that oversees wildlife is rethinking its entire approach to managing hunters and wild animals. TWRA now plans to take a hands-off approach to game populations and instead spend time protecting their habitats.
