Metro Nashville Police Department officers have shot 10 people in 2021 — seven fatally. That far surpasses the total in any year since the department started tracking these incidents in 2005. And it doesn’t count two additional instances when young men shot and killed themselves during encounters with officers.

No plans to expand COVID testing in Tennessee, despite Omicron’s rapid spread

Tennessee’s public health departments are experiencing long waits to get COVID tests as the Omicron variant rapidly spreads across the state. The new variant now represents an estimated 80% of all positive tests in the state. But there are no plans to expand testing capacity during the holidays.

Piping industry union fills generators for Tennessee and Kentucky residents without power
