A micro-grant program has doled out another round of funding in North Nashville. The 37208 Fund launched in October, with the stated aim of bringing “reparations and justice” to the historic heart of the city’s Black community.
A total of $28,000 was doled out to a North Nashville yoga studio, artist residency, school transportation company and program to help feed kids.
Residents of the 37208 zip code in North Nashville will get a say in how to spend $2 million to benefit the community, which has historically seen less public and private investment than other parts of town. It’s the city’s first attempt at so-called “participatory budgeting.”
