State Moves To Vaccinating Tennesseans 70 And Older

Tennessee is lowering the threshold to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to age 70. The state Department of Health estimates that the change means about 300,000 Tennesseans between 70 and 74 will now be eligible to get inoculated.

Metro Police Find Inactive Device In Southeast Nashville

Gov. Bill Lee is planning to deliver a speech to the state Sunday night amid a surge in COVID-19 infections. The rare address from a Tennessee governor comes as the state has been recording about 10,000 new positive cases per day and intensive-care units reach maximum capacity.

Gov. Bill Lee’s administration says it will be leaning heavily on local doctors and nurses to sell the public on new vaccinations against COVID-19. Lee spoke to reporters Thursday afternoon, shortly after appearing at a roundtable discussion with Vice President Mike Pence in Memphis.

An effort to overturn a Tennessee man’s death sentence appears to be headed back to trial. The state Court of Criminal Appeals has struck down a deal with Nashville’s district attorney that would have changed Abu-Ali Abdur’Rahman’s sentence to life imprisonment.
