Tennessee House passes voucher expansion bill amid concerns of future costs to taxpayers

The Tennessee House narrowly passed a bill on Monday that nearly doubles the number of vouchers available for the upcoming school year. The move garnered pushback from lawmakers who argue that the expansion is a bad financial move that could eventually bankrupt the state.

Tennessee governor repays trip after ethics panel finds a group shouldn’t have covered it

Gov. Bill Lee has repaid about $1,900 for a trip to a conference in Florida after ethics officials found he shouldn’t have relied on an outside group to cover the travel. The Tennessee Ethics Commission released the opinion Tuesday.

Tennessee breaks ground on $415M training facility for state law enforcement

The state of Tennessee is building a $415 million consolidated law enforcement campus in Nashville. The facility is expected to be complete by 2025. It’ll be the administrative headquarters for Tennessee’s Department of Correction and the Department of Safety & Homeland Security.
