Nashville’s Jim Cooper was the only Democratic congressman to vote against $51 billion in aid for the states affected by Hurricane Sandy. Cooper says he couldn’t support the bill, because it would add to federal spending at a time when the country is about to hit the debt ceiling.
Black Film Festival Changes Approach
Nashville’s annual Black Film Festival will be entirely online this year, due to limited funds. But while that change made it possible for the festival to continue, it’s brought a new set of challenges, even schedule changes after Hurricane Sandy.
