Tornadoes confirmed after late-night Tennessee storms

The National Weather Service has confirmed four tornadoes touched down during storms late Sunday night. All were in a cluster of neighboring counties: Maury, Hickman and Humphreys.

A week removed from the EF-3 tornado, residents in Maury County are continuing to clean up debris. The storm uprooted trees, destroyed homes, and picked up vehicles. But residents are just happy to have each other.

Deadly tornadoes and flooding hit Middle Tennessee

Tornadoes, hail and flash flooding impacted much of Middle Tennessee on Wednesday and overnight into Thursday. At least two people have died as a result of the storms, with multiple injuries reported.

Tennessee can build a new landfill or expand Middle Point. A better option is to repurpose trash.

The Middle Point Landfill in Murfreesboro accepts waste from a third of Tennessee counties, including from Nashville, and officials have estimated that the dumping ground has as little as three years left – or maybe until the end of the decade.
