Nashville Sees Its Lowest Number Of New Coronavirus Cases In Three Months

Nashville recorded one of its lowest daily totals for coronavirus cases in the last three months. On Sunday, the city had just 36 new cases and no new deaths.

New Vanderbilt Study Aims To Answer Questions About Use Of Plasma From COVID Patients

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is conducting a fast-tracked study on convalescent plasma. The same investigators were studying the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a potential COVID-19 treatment.

Rutherford Sends Students Back To School If Exposed Only To Suspected COVID-19 Cases

Rutherford County Schools is telling 1,250 students it’s OK to come back to school, after initially requiring them to quarantine for exposure to COVID-19. New guidance from the state says students have to isolate themselves only if they come in contact with confirmed cases.

With A Surplus Of COVID-19 Tests Available, Nashville Urges People To Come Back To Sites

Nashville’s COVID-19 stats continue trending in a positive direction except for one — the number of people getting tested at drive-thru centers. Traffic plummeted by more than 40% between the end of July and beginning of August — roughly double the drop seen statewide.

Top Democrat In Tennessee House Was Sick With COVID-19 At Start Of Special Session

The House Minority Leader in the Tennessee General Assembly was feeling ill at the start of last week’s special session. Rep. Karen Camper, D-Memphis, attended a few socially-distanced meetings and was on the floor of the state House Monday night, according to a spokesperson.

COVID Hospitalizations Crest In Nashville As New Cases Continue To Fall

The number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Nashville has been steadily dropping, from a high of 222 on July 22 to 119 currently. Intensive care units are still busy but feeling less threatened that they’ll be overwhelmed by the pandemic.

Trump Administration Subsidizes Expansion Of COVID-19 Testing At Nashville Lab Company

A Nashville lab company that has been processing many of the state’s COVID-19 tests is now getting help from the federal government to further expand. The Department of Health and Human Services is investing $6.5 million in two commercial labs, including Aegis Sciences.

Just Days After Some Students Returned, UT Already Has 28 Coronavirus Cases

The University of Tennessee has 28 confirmed coronavirus cases — 20 students and eight employees — and more than 150 in isolation because of close contact or COVID-19 symptoms. Chancellor Donde Plowman provided an update through a livestream video on Thursday.

Nashville Loosens Restrictions On Bars And Restaurants

On Monday, Nashville will allow bars to start serving customers again with a cap of 25 customers at a time, though bar counters will still be closed. The loosening of current restrictions comes as the city has seen a decrease and stabilization of new coronavirus cases.
