A national nonprofit billing itself as the conservative version of the ACLU is wading into Tennessee politics. “America First Legal” was running an ad in heavy rotation during the radio broadcast of the Titans game Sunday on 104.5 The Zone.
The minute-long ad focuses on a hot topic in Tennessee — care for transgender teens. It doesn’t mention Vanderbilt’s clinic or any local candidates. But it does make several misleading claims about President Biden.
“They push girls to take testosterone so they grow facial hair,” the ad states. “Joe Biden and the new left even promote surgery on teens and young adults, removing breasts and genitals.”
The ad hit the airwaves a month before congressional and state elections. It’s unclear what the organization hopes to gain because no one from America First Legal has returned a request for comment from WPLN News.
The 501(c)(3) was formed last year by a former speech writer to President Trump, Stephen Miller. It’s spent most of its brief existence filing lawsuits that challenge the Biden administration on issues of immigration, education and election law. Miller told Fox News in July he wanted to “deliver a significant blow to the equity cult, to the woke ideologues that have infiltrated effectively every facet of American life.”
