Ximena’s pronouns: she/her
1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an actress, but then I realized I had terrible stage fright so that wouldn’t work.
2. What made you want to work for Nashville Public Radio?
I grew up watching public television and the shows I watched had such an impact on me. Now, while radio is a different medium, public radio carries a very similar message. It is captivating storytelling with a purpose. It educates the public on so many different topics. If I can be a part of a team that keeps driving that mission, that would be the dream.
3. What can listeners expect you to do at Nashville Public Radio in the next year?
I really want to bring in some new ideas that help create opportunities for our sponsorships to grow.
4. a) Do you consider yourself to be a foodie? b) Any favorite Nashville restaurants so far? c) Any places on your “must try” list?
Yes, I love trying new cuisines. My favorite restaurant and must try location is Lopez Tacos y Mariscos off Nolensville Road. It’s a small taco truck wedged in between two tire shops. They have the best street tacos in Nashville!
5. What do you like to do for fun outside the office?
I love ballroom dancing, hiking, and fantasy football. Also, any chance I get to travel I will take advantage of.
BONUS: What’s your go-to karaoke song? (Not that we’d ever make you sing it.)
“Faith” by George Michael and “The Phantom of the Opera” from The Phantom of the Opera. I sing both parts and I CANNOT hit those high notes, but that doesn’t stop me.
